Photomontage works by Zenta Dzividzinska in exhibition "All’s Good Between Us"

Photomontage works by Zenta Dzividzinska from the late 1960s were included in the exhibition "All’s Good Between Us" curated by Andra Silapētere and organized by the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art (LCCA). The exhibition and related programming was on view at 60A-21 Dzirnavu Street, Riga, Latvia, from February 14 to March 31, 2024. [extended until April 4]

For the exhibition, the curator Andra Silapētere selected several previously unpublished photomontage works by Zenta Dzividzinska from the late 1960s. The selection was made in close collaboration with Līga Goldberga, the curator of Dzividzinska photo collection at the National Library of Latvia.

According to LCCA, the exhibition “brings gender and queer discourses into interaction with socio-political contexts in society, identifying cracks between identities, minorities and different generations.”

According to LCCA, “The title of the exhibition “All’s Good Between Us” is taken from the play of the same name by Polish writer Dorota Masłowska. The play tells the story of three generations of women living in a small apartment in Warsaw, observing in their everyday lives the complex panorama of Polish history in the last century, including issues of social and national identity. Also the participants of this exhibition from different generations inhabit the apartment together – the venue of the exhibition on Dzirnavu Street – communicating with each other and inviting guests to share their experiences and reflections.”

The exhibition and the public programming of “All’s Good Between Us” were part of the project "Islands of Kinship: A Collective Guide for Sustainable and Inclusive Art Institutions", supported by the European Union and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia. The project was also supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia.

The exhibition featured Latvian and international artists, curators, and researchers who are currently working on gender and LGBTQIA+ topics, such as Annemarija Gulbe, Antti Jarvi (FI), Atis Jākobsons, Eleanore de Montesquiou (EE/FR), Eva Eglāja-Kristsone, Felicita Pauļuka (1925-2014), Ieva Laube, Igors Gubenko, Ingrīda Pičukāne, Jaana Kokko (FI), Kalle Hamm (FI), Konstantīns Žukovs, Krišjānis Elviks, Mētra Saberova, Monta Cimdiņa, Raisa Maudit (ES), Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė (LT), Rūta Jumīte, Taka Taka (GR), Vents Vīnbergs, Zenta Dzividzinska (1944-2011), and others.
