The Goat Climbed up to Heaven. Riga

Exhibition The Goat Climbed up to Heaven (Kaza kāpa debesīs), Jānis Rainis Literature and Art History Museum, Riga, Latvia, September 14–December 30, 1993.

The exhibition was dedicated to the legacy of a cafe in Riga that hosted informal gatherings of young artists, poets, writers, and intellectuals in the 1960s. The cafe was nicknamed “Kaza” (goat in Latvian) because of a coffee machine Casa. Among the frequent patrons of the cafe in the 1960s was Juris Tifentals and also Zenta Dzividzinska.

Dividzinska was the designer of the exhibition. She included in the show numerous memorabilia from her own and Juris Tifentals’ collection, including records, newspapers, miscellanea, and also her own photographic prints from the time.
